Yeah I saw that and thought it was really interesting - started to relay a story, but ended up deleting it as it got too long and there was too much I didn't know. I think I visited a place connected to the myth, and it was really cool, but I didn't know what I was looking at.

There's a lake next to Hangzhou, and a big tower on a hill, which is a reconstruction of a previous tower, the ruins of which are preserved under the newer tower with an observation area. At the top of the big tower, a big circular or octagonal room has windows overlooking the lake and murals between the windows.

The murals depict a story of a snake goddess, who I think was the daughter of Fuxi (but I could be remembering wrong), who fell in love with (I think) a human, and of course the love was forbidden by her father. There's some kind of drama, which I forget, and it ends in her (and maybe her sister's?) death.

I was much more interested in the lake at the time, and spent the afternoon on a paddle boat on that lake. At night, there were more bats than I've ever seen swooping all around, within arms reach, eating bugs.

The picture you sent reminds me of DNA. If an esotericist were to describe DNA, they would say it has a male half and female half.

There are myths and carvings of snake people all over East Asia. Perhaps they are real beings. I've heard they populate Shambala. But its also possible that Shambala represents the same thing that Jerusalem/Israel/Zion represents, and the snakes represent Kundalini/prana/qi and its passage up the spine.
