Hells yeah I can relate to your school’s ethos. I personally like to keep it standing too bc I’m fast as fuck and I know how to manage distance / can hurt people very fast. I feel most comfortable standing by a long shot. I also like that if we’re squared up I can still escape if need by (I can run fast).
I grapple as a counter to takedowns only and look to defend takedown (violently) and if I feel I’m losing that battle I immediately go for the neck (standing guillotine if possible so I can attempt to stay standing).
But sparring good MMA guys has humbled me to admit wrestling / BJJ usually nullifies strikers 🥺 though it doesn’t always go that way.
Well rounded skill set is best. And hot takes can be a good time 🤝
