I use lightning probably around 50 times per month for the past 3 years,in el salvador. I literally cannot remember the last time it failed. I know how exaggerated that sounds.
I use Phoenix.
And I have been using LN since the start of 2018; it was nearly unusable originally and gradually got better. Tried many things, lnd, clightning, eclair, breez, electrum, zeus, god knows what else.
Lightning works. It just doesn't "automatically work straight out of the box", at least, not always; but nor does any other payment mechanism.
