I'll take Dave Winer seriously when he admits he never invented RSS. It was done by two friends of mine in Netscape for my old boss Mike Homer. Dave hijacked it and just called his version RSS 2.0 - talk about taking credit for something.

Who invented the RSS feed?
RDF Site Summary, the first version of RSS, was created by Dan Libby and Ramanathan V. Guha at Netscape. It was released in March 1999 for use on the My.Netscape.Com portal. This version became known as RSS 0.9.
