Yes it is a native here in North America where we have quite a few different species. It gets a bad reputation here for allergies as very few people are actually allergic to it as the pollen is very heavy (Insect pollenated). However it blooms at the same time the Ragweed blooms which many people are allergic to, and it gets the blame (Ragweed is horrible 🤧 . )",
