This is one of the better summaries of where we are and what happened: there is no one cause. There isn’t a single mistake Harris made that cost her the election, and even if you could prove that your hobbyhorse issue was a mistake, how do you square that against the other guy making 5 million mistakes and being elected? The mistakes don’t matter. Campaigning doesn’t matter, apparently.
A sizable number of Americans want fascism. Another sizable number have literally no ability to evaluate the world in front of them. They vote based on vibes and feelings and a vague sense that shaking things up will give them back the past that they miss. And that group combined just returned Donald Trump to the White House.
