I realize "if you can't take me at my worst, you don't deserve me at my best" rings true for a lot of folk, but the opposite rings more true for me.

Generally, if someone can't stand my happy, playful moods, they will never see me being down, because I can't trust them enough to show my true emotions.

So, to reword this slightly, "if you can't take me at my best, you don't get to see anything but my mask."
