The trouble with that reasoning is that, for the majority of the cycle under FPTP, Labour gets no power at all. It’s myopia. They desperately need a shift in viewpoint to understand that, through the coalitions that PR produces, they could have Labour hands on the levers of power ALL the time, just not always the dominant player. It strikes me as infantile to pass up ‘some power all the time’ because they want ‘all the power some of the time’.
