I managed to locate a copy of "One Bible, Many Versions," and spent a fair amount of time scanning and examining it, and here's what I can tell you:
It's written by someone who devoted much of his life to translating the Bible into a tribal language so that a people group might have access to the Word if God. For this, the author has my great respect.
I can also report that the book is very worthwhile, examining many technical details of a variety of widely used English translations, comparing and contrasting approaches each version took, and explaining the reasons behind many obvious differences in considerable detail with extensive use of tables and footnotes.
I think the book will definitely help anyone understand many of the ins and outs and necessary difficult decisions that must needs go into any translation of the scriptures.
Having said that, I can also tell you plainly that there is zero overlap between the book and the translation issues I observe and expose in my "Curmudgeon's Bible" series of articles. I can honestly recommend reading the book, and at the same time urge you to read and consider my series, because the book will leave you clueless about the many significant issues I see with the vast majority of English translations in common use.
I'll also mention a collaborative, online English translation that has been brought to my attention, which actually successfully addresses a number of the problems I take issue with; however, it nonetheless fails miserably in one very significant area. I'll try to find and share a link to the thread where that was discussed.
