Well fuck, that was what I expected.
Last Tuesday, Chris and I went out to Heron's Head. And I decided it would be a good day to photograph that footbridge I've shot many times before. But I wanted to do something different this time: the bridge with an umbrella suspended in the air.
My plan was to merge two shots: one with Chris and the umbrella, one without. This required a steady camera and identical camera settings for both shots.
So I took a test shot in aperture priority mode to get the focus and exposure right... then switched the camera to full manual to make sure nothing changed for the two shots I wanted. I figured full manual mode would hold the settings from the test shot.
Nope nope nope. The camera remembered the exposure I used a few months ago... not the settings from the test shot. And me, being totally cocky, I didn't bother to check the shots until I got home.
Anyway, here's the totally overexposed result.
It's certainly different.
