If Facebook is going to show up on the fediverse then it is *vital* that we dramatically improve onboarding, solve migration, and figure out some sort of protections against a massive instance defederating.
Facebook has done every step of Embrace Extend Extinguish before. It is inevitable it will happen again. That doesn't mean "never federate with them", it means we have the gift of prophecy and the time to mitigate its impending doom.
