Bittorrent never went away and grew each year in traffic, streaming took over the masses and nobody bothered to look up absolute numbers - the usual story ;)
The other tools: Complacency. A decade back I read from a German that "they" never delete bc the company is in the US and 1st Amendment etc.
Had he and all like him built up the alternative mindset they could switch tools/platforms just like that.
