So why pick on TikTok? Facebook and all the Meta horde collect as much or more and much more assiduously. China? CEO is from Singapore. US three letter agencies gobble much more data and worldwide than China. Pot, kettle? Jealously? Or is it really about a lot of the anti-Gaza Israeli genocide being called out there first. Until then the energy to fully ban it was lacking. It upset the Israeli lobby?
When this started rattling TikTok went out of its way to give all its data to the US goons.
I think it is also a toe hold for US government to have unconstitutional power over all of tech and tech companies. They tried this a while back. The TikTok bill I saw would give the President and maybe Secretary of Commerce power to shut down the operations of any company at their sole discretion and impose drastic penalties on users and other companies that in any way supported their operations including cloud providers. This would effectively give US government the power to wipe out anything that had an online presence at will.
This is the real significance of the TikTok noise and their real goal.
