I've been testing it seriously for the last weeks, even run my own SMP server (xftp failed to start thusfar).
My take is that it's very interesting for 1 on 1 chats and works well (a synced desktop client is missing). Self hosted is really nice.
Groups are broken and I have a feeling that Groups v2 is not an optimal solution for bigger groups either.
But promising tech, much like Nostr versus activitypub
