This is one of my biggest complaints; without a lot of time and money, it’s not really possible to apply non-corporeal discipline in a consistent and meaningful fashion. Even good kids require immediate negative consequences to immoral behavior, if one desires to condition them against evil. I’ve done my best, but it’s like I missed at least 90% of the best opportunities. So they’re obliged to grow up without much what used to be an assumed and valuable social safeguard. I’m confident they’ll “make it” to adulthood, but with how hard it was and how short I’ve fallen, I truly fear for the sort of society they will inherit.
