It's hard to find your own relationship to death in a society that does everything to avoid the topic of our own mortality.
Something happened with my mind when I faced my fear of dying. I used to think of dying as some sort of non-existence: a mind suspended in darkness without any external stimuli. It disappeared in the moment someone pointed out the absurdity in that belief.
