It's an interesting effect of this warming globe, as I'm sure you've noticed: the greater instability means we may also get colder than expected at times, amid generally rising averages! This cold spell is seeing some of the coldest daytime temps I recall since moving back in 2007, and a couple of the coldest nights! For a few years it seemed we weren't hitting -40(same in C/F), now we've been sub -45C!
