"content": "As of iOS 18 there’s new API to replace the flashlight and camera buttons on the Lock Screen. So, yes, you can. Was that prompted by this sort of scrutiny? I doubt we’ll know publicly but suspect a story will circulate quietly eventually. But to John’s point—you don’t need to delete the Camera app for that.\nInterestingly, the Camera app on the Lock Screen runs as a different user and can’t see the owner’s data. It is engineered to be secure that way.",
