The situation is like an opportunistic infection.
It is a symptom showing that the US phone system's defenses aren't up to the task.
With increasingly clever AI/ deepfake voices & automation, the #Scam call problem is set to get worse.
Last year we got a hearing on phone scamming of seniors by
the Senate Aging Committee.
We need many more.
We need lawmaking with teeth.
And we need accountability at every level.
