I didn't mean forcing events, (I'm not actually sure what that means as contrasted with making good decisions) I was talking about how to understand what happens to us in response to our choices. "X happened to me because it's part of God's plan, which I don't understand" is not an inspiring belief, and I don't think God wants us to live uninspired
