Ho, by far. I haven't read any in new ones in about 30 years, but the old 60's 70's and 80's (when I started reading) and into the early 90s were exquisite story telling (not always, but consistently enough!).
I think that's why, at least marvel, has had the sense to tell OLD stories from when they had really good writers when they make movies. The ones that didn't suck anyway.
I recently set out to read the entirety of the 'marvel universe' from Fantastic Four #1 forward through the 80s at least. I'll read 5 or 10 of FF, then go to Avengers and read 5 or 10 there, then Spiderman, then X-Men etc then back to FF just to keep the time line of them.
Honestly I always said when I was a kid 'half the 'big words' I know I learned from comic books.' I still find words that I 'look up' as I'm reading through the old ones now. Of course I don't have to go fetch a dictionary to do it anymore...
