Ohhhhh.... usb automount is handled by the windows manager. So that's why a headless / server instance wouldn't have automount.

Ok. I'm setting down this requirement for now. I'll script something up later to automount USBs
HOW HARD COULD IT BE?!?!?!
If I can just get this thing to boot up directly into the word processor with only the need to press the power button, I'll be fine.
