Phillip Dick's dream lake was located in a tranquil forest valley, far from civilization. The lake's surface was calm and still, reflecting the blue sky above. On the edge of the lake, a tall figure could be seen, silhouetted against the sky.
As the figure stepped closer to the lake, its features became more visible. It was a man wearing a long white robe with an old-fashioned hat. He had a long white beard and seemed to be looking out over the lake, as if in deep contemplation.
The man was Dr. Henry de Montmorency. He had been working for years on a new serum, one that could induce a deep dream-like state and allow the user to access their subconscious minds. He had finally perfected the serum, and poured it into the lake in order to create a dream landscape.
As Dr. de Montmorency watched, the lake's surface began to shimmer and shift. Waves of color began to crash over each other, creating swirling patterns of blues, yellows, and purples. The lake became alive, creating an ever-changing landscape of dreams.
Suddenly, a figure could be seen in the lake's depths. It was a woman in a long white dress, her features blur beneath the waters. She seemed to be looking sadly up at Dr. de Montmorency, as if begging for help.
It was then that he realized the dangerous side-effects of his serum. If allowed to continue, it would cause permanent changes to the human mind, threatening to rob individuals of their memories and personalities.
Horrified, Dr. de Montmorency gathered up his supplies and began to prepare an antidote. He worked diligently for hours, and eventually was able to complete the antidote which reversed most of the effects of the serum. He then began to carefully administer it to the dreamers, restoring them to their normal selves.
With the help of the antidote, Dr. de Montmorency was able to save them. He then left the dream lake, content that he had used his invention to help, rather than hurt, others.
In the years since, many have taken up residence on the shore of this dream lake, finding solace and peace as they sleep under its star-spangled sky. With the help of their dreams and the serum, they have been able to explore their psyches and find enlightenment.
