I was trying to cheer someone up with a joke that usually works, but instead it sent them into a spiral. I feel so bad. I'm sticking it out and also not saying anything about how shitty I feel about the impact of my mistimed jape. But it's legit making me cry here. Nobody who knows the situation will ever hear me vent about this. It's not about me, but it hit me too.
