I've long wondered how to handle media collections when one doesn't know the storage size of the device one will be copying to.
Curators of certain #RetroGaming ROM collections solved it like this: they have a base subset with the smallest/highest-priority ROMs. People with 32GB SD cards (or slow network connections) can download just the base. Then there's another 32GB subset with larger ROMs (that don't overlap the base) that people with 64GB cards can ALSO download.
