It’s so exciting that this conversation has hinged on the definition of the word *this* two times now! Coincidence or providence? *This* generation described in Matthew 24:34, is the generation that sees the “Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven” Matthew 24:30. Not only do they see His coming, but all the tribes of the earth are described as mourning.
“8 I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?” Luke 18:8
I can’t prove this without a shadow of a doubt using scripture. But I’m inclined to believe the earth in its current form will persist for 6,000 years and the millennial reign will be a type of sabbath for 1,000 years. If this is true, then we should be close to His coming, based on the number of years since the first Adam.
