I want you to panic.
That *is* the appropriate response to how bad things have become, to how deadly serious the climate and environmental crises are, and how ineffective our ruling capitalist system is at handling this existential threat.
Evolution gives animals like us a panic stimulus when immediate action is required. Move quickly or die — run away or fight — but do *something* and do it right now.
Sitting back and waiting for our elected officials to deliberate and make deals, while hoping that at some point they might get around to actually doing what we all know is required... that is NOT an appropriate response to the threat that confronts us.
If you’ve been warned that a tsunami is coming, you need to turn around and run. Get very far away as fast as you can. And that’s what we are facing: a deadly tsunami of climate chaos, environmental collapse and societal breakdown, brought on by capitalist greed and indifference.
So we need to get away away from capitalism as fast as possible. Don’t walk, turn the other way and run. Baby steps like Net Zero, or making a gradual shift to EVs while also pouring billions of dollars into widening highways and expanding airports — those are not enough.
It's time to panic. And then act.
