When I sit down and write a story, and submit it to markets, sometimes it sells and my story appears in print.

When I do not write a story, or write a story but do not submit it, it does not sell, and does not appear in print.

Someone who is good at publishing please explain this mystery to me. I feel as if there is some significant lesson to be learned here that somehow escapes me.
