This month's second full moon (a blue moon) occurs at 1:35 pm today. The event occurs just nine hours after the lunar perigee, the name given to the moon's nearest approach to Earth. With a separation of 357,344 km between Earth and moon, this is the closest full moon of 2023. Because of the moon's proximity, some people call it a "supermoon". I've just watch it set over Ōtepoti Dunedin here in New Zealand #moon #bluemoon #supermoon
