if the aluminum can has 850km/hour and it's filled with kerosene I think the perspective changes a bit. Let alone we are not talking about beer can aluminum but an alloy called duralumin and other light but super-strong composite materials and alloys used in the aeronautic industry only. Super expensive materials btw.

A Boeing 757 has around 115 tons
a Boeing 767 has 142 tons or more. Only from kinetic energy there's 1117 kw*h the energy used by ~ 11 houses needed in a whole month dissipated on a rather small cross section in a split second or less.

The fire that went on after the explosion caused by the collision ignited others flammable materials from the building making it even worse for its structure. After plenty of time it burned things inside, those I beams already weakened by the impact + initial explosion, started to bend due to decreased resistance while exposed to fire.
