A Boeing 757 has around 115 tons
a Boeing 767 has 142 tons or more. Only from kinetic energy there's 1117 kw*h the energy used by ~ 11 houses needed in a whole month dissipated on a rather small cross section in a split second or less.

After plenty of time it burned things inside, those I beams already weakened by the impact + initial explosion, started to bend due to decreased resistance while exposed to fire.

On top of each sky scrapper there's a big sphere that weighs around 730 tons that have the role of canceling wind and eq induced swings.
In 9/11 case those huge spheres acted like demolition balls wrecking thru the floors while free falling inside each of those Twin Towers.
