It's a fucked up situation, and Hamas is certainly a huge problem. They literally teach the "protocols of Zion" as real & true in school. Which is a joke considering that even the Nazis didn't take more than 2 years or so to prove them as fake (didn't keep them from using them for propaganda, btw).
OTOH, the Israeli government has not really helped either, some current ministers have called the Hamas literally Israel's biggest asset (admittedly before being in gov)
