keep it simple 🧶
your #bitcoin is important, you got this far and now you don’t want to fuck it up
so keep it simple and run FOSS
never in the history of bitcoin has there been better or more accessible off the shelf tools
1) get your hands on some dirty cash and go buy an unlocked pixel 6 or above
2) use cash to buy a refurbished Lenovo Thinkpad from a computer repair shop and flash it with Linux Debian, just ask and they might do it for you
3) install Tor
4) install Sparrow Wallet & verify
www.sparrowwallet.com
5) use your Thinkpad to flash Graphene OS onto your Pixel Phone
https://blog.ronindojo.io/grapheneos/
6) buy a plug n play RoninDojo Tanto full node
www.ronindojo.io
7) install Samourai Wallet on phone
https://samouraiwallet.com/download
8) open Samourai Wallet, connect to Tor, pair to your own node, create a new wallet with a passphrase and wallet pin
9) write down your seed words in order, write down your passphrase and pin
10) confirm your seed words and passphrase in the wallet
11) write down your paynym
12) secure erase wallet and then restore from backups you just made to confirm
13) confirm paynym is the same
14) punch seed words and passphrase onto separate steel plates and store in separate safe hidden places
15) save an encrypted copy of your wallet onto a sd card via your wallet and store in a separate safe hidden place
16) exit wallet completely and reopen to double check your pin, that Samourai Wallet is connected to Tor and your node
17) open tor browser on laptop and pair Sparrow Wallet to full node
18) open Sparrow Wallet and add the Samourai Wallet seed and passhrase to confirm paynym is the same
19) write down the fingerprint of the wallet as another means of confirming the wallet has the correct passphrase
20) close and reopen Sparrow Wallet to confirm you can access wallet with correct passphrase, that the fingerprint and paynym match, that your node is connected and tor is running
21) Now write a very simple plan for your family to find and restore your seeds and passphrase in the event of your death
You now have:
an anonymous phone
an anonymous laptop
an anonymous mobile wallet
an anonymous bitcoin full node
an anonymous desktop wallet
an anonymous set of backups
Don’t over complicate it or use too many programs
Don’t create multi sigs or cold storage until you understand the trade offs
Most bitcoin is lost because YOU lose your seeds, not because of scams or hacks
Keep it simple #nostr
