I think this efficiency is a good part of how the word took over mainstream -- and industrial and corporate -- discussions of human expression and culture
"Content" covers a lot of ground!
But as with software's relentless pursuit of efficiency in everyday life -- and the messes that has sometimes caused -- it may have been that being *less* efficient in our daily language would have been better
