In the first China-GCC Summit, Chinese President Xi Jinping made a speech to the middle east stating his goal of paying for oil with RMB and inviting them to advance the m-CBDC Bridge project. In the pilot program, 44 million USD worth of transactions were settled in central bank digital currency instead of correspondent banking, where transactions are settled in commercial bank credit. 4 central banks and 20 commercial banks participated.
