This Age letter is simply wrong. Parkiteers continue to be built, including at many of the rebuilt LXRA stations. A quick check of parkiteer.com.au indicates all of the completed skyrail stations have them.
(They're also, I'd argue, not the big problem. It's the lack of protected bike lanes.)
