This is nothing new at all. When Newton was doing physics, it became calculus very quickly, and nobody complained, not 350 years ago, and not now.

Why would anybody have to complain when a computational question quickly becomes a mathematical question, now, after millennia of experience of the effectiveness of mathematics ("in the shoulders of giants")?

Let's stop discussing this and just accept reality. People in complexity and algorithms use maths because they have to, and so do people in PL. And everywhere else in Computer Science, including concurrency, operating systems and more.

So I really don't understand what this discussion is about. Mathematics has already been fully established as the foundation of computer *science*.
