Mallard ducks are often straight-line flyers but they fly REALLY fast. I've a difficult time catching flight photos of them because they'll often zoom by before I can get the lens up. But I caught some taking off in small groups from below the Iowa River Power Dam the other day & so was able to anticipate their flight path.
