Adding insult to injury is that yesterday we found out that my wife's grandmother, who is over 100 years old, has been without electricity in Tulsa for the past week after losing power during the derecho.
Local relatives have been keeping an eye on them, but have been unsuccessful in convincing her to stay with them temporarily during the excessive heat this past week.
We've had no clue how bad the situation was in Tulsa, less than 2 hours away due to a lack of media coverage.
