Fash Free Fest has been announced for this year! Date and details to come.
For some background, Portland has a history of violent fascists coming into town in late August to try and hold hate rallies and assault & harass community members. Portland antifascists have repeatedly shown the fuck up, disrupted these attempts and fought back. When I say they’ve fought back, I don’t say it lightly. Some of these events got insanely brutal but people continued to defend our community by any means necessary. At the most recent one, Proud Boys unleashed an insane amount of violence, including flipping over a van and bear macing people in their vehicles, and they still got pushed out of town. You might remember this as the day PB Tiny got blasted with an extinguisher filled with paint rendering him incapable of fighting (not to be confused with Tiny getting blasted with a live round).
The refusal to back down regardless of how intense things got by antifascists has resulted in the violent fascists to virtually fuck off and leave Portland alone. This is the second annual Fash Free Fest- a celebration of what the community has accomplished and the strength of communal power. I’m told that there is an insane lineup of musicians planned for this, along with free food and snacks, mutual aid, zines, an arts & crafts station, and more!
