Two things you've neglected by this type of analysis.
1. It's understood that not voting is a vote that still affects the analysis of an election.
2. Belief is used as a colloquialism. As the example goes, you believe you're a vegan because you don't eat meat. Or you believe you're not a vegan because you do. If you eat meat and believe you're a vegan, we call you crazy since the evidence of what you do is obvious.
