Conditions in Russia are not rosier that the US. Russia is tapped out in Ukraine, if they had the capability they would be in Kiev Kharkiv by now. They don't have the bandwidth to rescue Iran, and they are willing to throw them under the bus if US offers them a deal in Ukraine.
