I do not expect the current ruling ideology to go there.

The legitimizing formula of the administrator class is that they have some special understanding that grants them the right to rule (ie oligarchic theocracy).

They are not really meant to have material needs at all - that's forgivable background noise. We are not ever meant to focus on the wealth (the luxury homes, the yachts, etc).

In contrast, the ancient kings were possessed not of special knowledge but rather special blood. They were conceived not as experts but as the head of huge extended families. While they welcomed religious legitimation (hence the cliche alliance of throne and altar) their fundamental claim to power was biological. Their ostentatious wealth was meant to reflect the wealth of their nation.

This should not be construed as white-washing the current ruling ideology. The age of democracy is the age of genocide because the administrator class claims the right to liquidate resources that do not fit into their plan. For a king to do so would be murder of his own extended family. For an administrator the rest of us are only so much compost.

We see this attitude plainly in their immigration policy. "The government has chosen to dissolve the people and appoint another".
