It's one of the things I try to tell people about why software and games and so many other things are shit now. On top of pajeets refusing to hire non-pajeets, it's the "money" job right now so every university is pumping out degrees for jobs that don't exist to people who are there for the money.
Just look at the sites that list total applicants for jobs. Hundreds for every job. There's no way to sort those reliably. Most hiring teams, even for smaller companies have diversity preferences, if not requirements. Diversity prefs mean "interview women, nigs and browns first, then White/Asian men (many of whom are still not fit for the work)" but when your interview time cost is massive and you have 350 "qualified" applicants, there's no chance of getting to the 10-20 White or Asian guys who could do the job well.
It still amazes me that people are failing FizzBuzz and the solution to this is to have people grind score on bullshit like leetcode or getting commits into big github projects, all of which are gameable and generally useless metrics of skill. But, I'm sure we'll limp along for plenty of years to come.
