Chris Giles (FT) uses a new student by OpenResearch on UBI to suggest its infeasible; the study found that in the US-based study group, few of the posited benefits of UBI materialised;
Recipients *did* see a one-off improvement in mental health but otherwise, physical health was unaffected & the extra time/money was *just* used for leisure rather than self-improvement.
Giles thinks any impact on poverty would be better handled by benefits!
The debate on UBI will continue.
