Historically known as Thung Phra Meru (Royal Cremation Ground), Sanam Luang holds deep cultural and spiritual significance in Thailand. Like the centre of a mandala, it symbolises the core of the universe where unseen celestial forces converge with our physical realm.
Inside this Earthly center sits a giant COMPANION cradling the Moon, representing the interconnectedness of all things within this cosmic order. Nestled in the lap of the 18-metre COMPANION is a smaller COMPANION, reflecting the timeless flow of wisdom and care across generations.
Inspired by its sacred surrounds, KAWS:HOLIDAY THAILAND offers rest and respite from the busyness of daily life. The art installation and its accompanying activities have been thoughtfully designed for slowing down and returning to the present moment, wherein our experiences of shared existence come alive.
This unique interplay between art, environment, and cultural heritage is made possible with the support of our local supporters, including the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) and the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) as well as Central The 1 Credit Card, Plan B Media Public Company Limited, and Lighting & Equipment Public Company Limited.
