Okay, hivemind. I need an opinion.

Let me set the scene:

For nearly two years now, I am in this course for a new job. Throughout the course developed the regular spread of people who are quite good at this overall, people who are not really in it. Some people who know one topic while being bad at another. Like, a regular spread of 'intelligence' or aptitude.

Now, in the past six months several people of the group approached me, told me they are struggling and they love when I explain things. Sweet little compliment, right? And I love to help out. That's just the kind of idiot I am.

So, this weekend I sat down and worked half a day to create a study group as well as a schedule in which we can revise things. I did it because obviously I cannot tutor everyone individually. I even invited people who I think stand no chance in hell or who I actively disliked. But I invited them anyways, because I am an idiot.

Fast forward to today, and every single fucking one of these people bailed. Some with (bad) excuses, some didn't deem it at all appropriate to tell me why they didn't turn up.

Naturally - because I hold grudges - I went online and basically cancelled the whole thing.

Now people calling me an asshole, and I am SO FUCKING MAD about this.

Let me be clear: I do not think for a second I am in the wrong here. They asked me, I did, they deemed the thing they asked me for not important enough´, so I cancelled the thing.

What makes me mad to the core of my being is that THIS is apparently what people think solidarity is. It is something they want given to themselves but don't feel the need to extend to others.

I am so friggin pissed off about this. Like genuinely annoyed.

I guess I don't even need an opinion about it. I just wanted to vent.
