The "(defmethod initialize-instance :after" thing is overengineering, I like Scheme R6RS Records protocol, which just wraps a "new" which takes all the parent fields. But that's the Scheme way, HOF everything, not declaration.
And fields are so verbose if I want to specify names, I like Scheme's Recordname-field function generation.
