Then maybe you'd be happy to know that our English only policy only ever was intended for public posts to the local timeline? Even when that policy was being enforced it would have been perfectly OK to reply to someone else in whatever language you chose. That rule is long gone these days, so I guess it doesn't much matter, but just in case you're secretly working on a time machine (bring me back some lottery numbers if you are!).
