npub16a3wq0x5ky070sp36ekmz3jwjqj7r2csgd0s97ym58tlvtfnshds6k9dah (npub16a3…9dah) Look, I'm all for bodily autonomy and living your best life on your terms. We both agree with that.
But what I'm getting at here is that, if you desire to have a family, that should be feasible for most working adults. Right now, this is becoming all the more out of reach. Housing is a big reason for this -- in Vancouver, where I live, developers would rather build one bedroom condos then homes for families.
Regarding men, I don't know what to tell you except that marriage and child-rearing is work, and if your romantic partner doesn't realize this, he's probably not someone you should be involved with.
Personally speaking, I'm under no illusions. I'm a stay-at-home dad who's the primary caregiver to a 10-year-old autistic daughter. I put in lots of work navigating a world that's often hostile to my family's needs.
Do I want a cookie? No. But I'd like to put my child through college. And should my daughter eventually want her own child, I'd want her to have the resources to ensure success.
Humans aren't going extinct. Nevertheless, families play an important role in the community, and they are an investment in the future.
