I had to learn all about IEEE-754 Float Standards for a class where we learned MIPS and RISC-V Assembly, I never truly understood it and probably never will. If an employer asks me to convert a floating point by hand like I did in that class, I am running as far away as I possibly can.
Side note: are you enjoying Introducing Go? I'm thinking about buying it, as I've been meaning to learn Go for a bit and have the perfect side-quest/procrastination project to use to learn.
